Self-similar Markov processes

In 1962, John Lamperti proved a very important result about scaling limits of Stochastic processes. The result of the scaling limit was shown to lie in the class of "semi-stable process". Our recent developments focus on semi-stable processes that also has the standard Markov property. This project starts out as my PhD project so please refer to my thesis for more details

Predicting Geomagnetic Storm using Transition Probabilities

A geomagnetic storm is a temporary disturbance in the Earth's magnetic field caused by the activities on the surface of the Sun. Electromagnetic storm could, for example, disrupt electricity supplies in the area. Better prediction for this would mean better management of the situation. This project is followed from the Bath ITT3 after discussions with MET office representative.
